Healthy Students Make Great Students
LearntobeHealthy.org is an online health science learning site created by the Susan P. Byrnes Health Education Center. The health education website is designed to help educators, parents and community leaders communicate important health concepts to students. The site contains comprehensive lesson plans, interactive games and activities, webquests and more. The goal of the site is to inspire students – and their families – to make healthy choices that will last a lifetime.
Who We Are
The Susan P. Byrnes Health Education Center developed LearntobeHealthy.org with underwriting support from Highmark Foundation. The Byrnes Health Education Center, a non-profit organization located in York, PA, is a recognized leader in the development of innovative, high quality, effective health education programs for students of all ages. With a mission to educate and inspire people of all ages to make healthy choices, our programs feature a variety of multimedia experiences along with high-tech exhibits and unique hands-on displays. We use technology to optimize learning opportunities. Since 1995, more than 750,000 students throughout South Central Pennsylvania and Northern Maryland have visited the Byrnes Health Education Center to better understand the human body and develop healthier lifestyles. In addition to LearntobeHealthy.org and our on-site programming, Byrnes HEC offers health education programming for adults and community organizations through outreach programming on several health education topics.
After visiting the Byrnes Health Education Center, former U.S. Surgeon General, Dr. C. Everett Koop said, "You have finally found a way to put pizzazz into prevention."

We encourage organizations who want to promote healthy living to partner with us and become sponsors. With additional funding, we can continue to add activities and extend our reach to a larger audience. The more teachers, parents and students experience the site, the greater the exposure of the sponsorship.

Where We're Going
We are dedicated to providing the highest quality health education resources for everyone who shares our passion for wellness. We will continue to develop new programs, activities, and games, which will be offered for free on LearntobeHealthy.org. In addition to the free resources, supplemental materials and LearntobeHealthy.org merchandise is offered through the online store. Proceeds from all sales will benefit the Susan P. Byrnes Health Education Center and will be used to enhance and expand LearntobeHealthy.org. Our hope is to encourage instructors and students to return again and again for new and exciting learning experiences. As new technologies become available, we will use them to build new areas of value and interest for our audiences.
